This position will be responsible for creating, revising and implementing basic molecular biology, biochemistry or biotechnology experiments conducted by college students enrolled in their first year of college and beyond. The department has laboratory space and equipment dedicated to the education and mentorship of students as part of the SLCC InnovaBio® initiative. In collaboration with STEM faculty and staff, this position will provide direction and guidance to ensure smoothly functioning day-to-day operations of the laboratory. This will include reviewing current literature, designing and executing experiments, collecting data, supervising students, providing written and oral feedback to students and other stakeholders, completing experiments as needed, among other duties.
The ideal candidate will actively participate in all required meetings and activities with a focus on improving student success and access as expected of this college service. They will be proactive in making decisions within the scope of the job, solving unexpected problems and carrying on laboratory business independently. The candidate selected might be required to communicate with different academic departments as well as Utah biotechnology corporations. This is a 12-month, staff position.
